There seems to have been a filter there at some point because you can see the pipes hanging in the air, missing something.
But it wasn't there when we bought the house.
So the plumber brought this to our attention
It doesn't really soften the water as much as it prevents the hard stuff from sticking to everything....and makes the water taste better. The thought of not needing to lug a ton of salt for the other kind of filter is pretty appealing.
Anyone have this? Good? Bad? Pros? Cons?
Mahalo and Aloha a Hui Hou!
Tough call, I'd be googling options if I were you. I had a water softener in my last house, it needed salt as well as a liquid component (can't remember why!). It ate salt like nobody's business. The water was great for washing, but I couldn't use it to water my plants because the salt would kill them. To me that meant, DON'T DRINK THE WATER!!! So I had a cooler and big bottles of water delivered once a week for drinking water.
ReplyDeleteI know Anne, right!!
DeleteI'm not thrilled about the salt thing at all. It would also mean we could never put in a gray water system. I'm looking for options and hope to figure out the best for us soon!
