HGTV Moment...

As we are getting closer to completion  - this is a long distance thing and I've been living vicariously through the photos Lisa has been sending. I get to see every detail, from so far way - it's amazing.

Now I've been thinking about this for a bit and have decided I (we) want to be surprised with the rest of the work. Yes, you read right. Surprised.

This is what I emailed to Lisa and David

"So I feel I'm ready to be surprised with the rest (Roger says "What ever you want sweet", good hubby)....

Please continue to take progress photos - just don't share them with me...I want to cry and be oh so happy when we walk thru that door

Crazy, I know"

Crazy, I know...but that's me!

Hope we get to see it soon!

Aloha a Hui Hou!

Hard hat zone

IT'S REALLY HAPPENING! On Monday, December 5th, I got the call that our contractor wants to start demolition on Tuesday. WOO HOO!

This is what the room looks like empty and down to the studs.

As far as I can tell, it looks like the sub-floor isn't showing any signs of water damage - and that's a good thing!

Potty has to stay a bit....you know, in case of an emergency

If my eyes are not playing games with me, it looks like the outer wall is insulated - waiting for confirmation on that.
The bathroom is tiny and that makes the layout somewhat difficult. Not to mention that, when drawing my plans, I had forgotten to take the hall cupboard that takes up space in the bathroom (2' deep) into consideration If they were to build the bath with the layout I posted earlier, the vanity would only be 22" wide - WAY too small. So it's back to the drawing board.

Here are a couple of the new layouts I've come up with:

This is almost the same layout as we have now, just with a shower instead of a tub and a smaller window

I'm afraid this one will be too tight and not sure I'll like not having a mirror over the sink....closing it might make the bath dark..
Now the contractor has to come up with a layout. Then we have to talk and figure out what works and what works best for us.

Aloha Hui Hou!
